Chapter 8. Organizing Your Mobile Tools > Getting E-mail Through a Hotmail Acco...

Getting E-mail Through a Hotmail Account

Another alternative for obtaining your e-mail on the road is to create a Hotmail account. Hotmail, operated by Microsoft, permits you to send and receive e-mail from your browser. This can often be more convenient than creating a temporary e-mail account at a computer you are at temporarily. Hotmail has some useful features that make it worth looking at, including the following.

  • You can retrieve messages from up to four Internet (POP3) e-mail accounts through Hotmail.

  • Conversely, you can retrieve your Hotmail accounts through Outlook.

  • An Inbox Protector filters junk mail.

  • You can be notified when e-mail arrives through your instant messaging, digital wireless phone, or digital pager.

  • Your Hotmail Sign-In Name and password also serve as your Passport account.
