Part II: Organizing Information  > Organizing Your E-mail

Chapter 7. Organizing Your E-mail

Jeff Adell’s new job is Vice President for eLearning for a major insurance company. He is charged with implementing a series of new initiatives aimed at providing training throughout the organization using various eLearning applications. As such, he is a member of several planning committees, and leads three cross-functional project teams. Every day, Jeff gets more than 100 e-mails (not including junk mail and spam).

Jeff didn’t come from an e-mail culture. At his last position, most communications were through voice mail. For the last three days, Jeff hasn’t been able to read more than half of his e-mails and feels as though his e-mail is preventing him from doing his job—but he also realizes that responding to e-mail is his job.
