Summary

For many people, creating knowledge with visuals is not as easy as working with numbers or words. Fortunately, Office provides so many wizards, drawing tools, and templates that even people who can’t draw a cow that has four legs can create complex charts, effective diagrams, and beautiful artwork.

In this chapter, you learned the basic techniques for creating knowledge visually. This type of knowledge appeals to audiences in very different ways than does text-based and number-based knowledge. It is literally perceived differently—by the right side of the brain—and evokes an emotional response that left-brain learning (that is, text and numbers) does not. Smart knowledge workers remember this fact, and always weave the two types of knowledge together to effectively communicate their points.
