Managing Your E-mail

As e-mail has become one of the most common communication modes for many knowledge workers, it follows that e-mail has become one of the toughest information tsunamis to manage. E-mail messages can pile up in your Inbox so quickly that important messages you haven’t responded—or can’t even find—are scattered among hundreds of unimportant e-mails.

An especially effective way to manage a deluge of e-mail is to use the TRAF system developed by Stephanie Winston for managing paperwork. Winston says that there are four and a half things you can do with a piece of paper that arrives on your desk.
