Q&A

Q1:I don't want any categories at all. Is that a problem?
A1: Not at all! You don't have to use categories if you don't want to. Simply don't create any. For very simple diary-style sites, a system of complex categories may in fact be unnecessary. However, the advantages in terms of archiving, cross-referencing, and sharing content using categories are many, so be sure to consider your options carefully prior to making a hard and fast decision on whether to include categories with your weblog.
Q2:How many categories can I create?
A2: As many as you want, as far as we can tell! If there's a limit to the number of categories you can create for your weblog, we haven't reached it.
Q3:The more categories I have in use, the longer the rebuild process takes. Can I avoid this?
A3: You can't avoid it completely, but you can limit the time by limiting the number of categories. How many categories you actually require and how many you want may be different things. Again, consider your options carefully before committing to a large number of categories, or worrying too much about longer rebuilds should the real needs of your site demand more categories rather than fewer.
