Using Remote Computers Through Telnet

Using one Web server is like using any other. The same goes for FTP servers, news servers, and Gopher servers. Telnet, however, is the exception to the rule. Using Telnet, you access another computer out there on the Internet—known to Telnet as a remote computer—and use that computer as if you were using a terminal that was connected directly to that computer. (See Figure 19.17.)
