Finding and Reading Newsgroup Messages Through Your Browser

Many Web browsers can display newsgroup messages. Note, however, that you cannot use a Web browser to contribute to a newsgroup (except in one special case, described in a moment), so you'll still need a newsreader to really get into newsgroups.

A Web browser's display capability comes in handy when a search tool turns up a newsgroup message. Newsgroup messages show up in a search tool's hot list as links; if your browser can display newsgroup messages, clicking one of those links displays the message. (In some suites, the newsreader and the browser are linked so that clicking a link that leads to a newsgroup message automatically opens the newsreader to display the message.)
