Q&A

Q1:At the start of the hour, you mentioned outlawing spam. Is that going to happen?
A1: There are many efforts underway to control or eliminate spam through legislation, but it's impossible today to say which, if any, of these efforts will succeed.

One of the most promising campaigns seeks not to enact new laws against spam, but to extend an existing law—the prohibition of junk faxes—to also cover email. You can learn more about that campaign on the Web page for CAUCE, the Coalition Against Unsolicited Commercial Email (www.cauce.org), which also provides links to many other anti-spam resources.

If you really want to do something productive about spam, let your congressperson know how you feel. You can find your congressperson's email address from the Web page at www.house.gov/writerep/.
