Using the Web for Email

An email program like Outlook Express or Netscape Messenger is the best way to send and receive email. But through several different sites online, you can send and receive email to and from your Web browser (using a different email address than the one you use with your email program).

You use Web-based email (sometimes called Webmail) entirely within your browser. To send a message, you fill in the blanks in an online form that offers spaces for the recipient's address, the message's subject, the message body, and so on. Messages you receive are displayed to you in a Web page only you can see, or in a box that pops open atop a Web page.
