Internet mailing lists consist of groups of people who regularly exchange e-mail on a subject that interests them. As with newsgroups, there are tens of thousands of mailing lists covering every conceivable topic. The vast majority of them are private—university professors discussing scholarly subjects, clubs and associations communicating with their members, families doing genealogical research or planning reunions. But there are plenty of general-interest mailing lists that welcome subscribers. The trick is to find them.
