Chapter 11. AOL Search > Searching with AOL Search

Searching with AOL Search

There are two important points to keep in mind when searching with AOL Search:

  • AOL's overall goal is to help you find what it considers to be the best information related to your search. Consequently, it favors its own proprietary content and Web sites that have been selected by AOL editors (and the Open Directory Project's volunteer subject experts) over Web sites from the spider-created Inktomi database. You won't even be shown Web pages from Inktomi if matches are found in these other sources.

  • Anyone with Internet access can use AOL Search, but unless you're an AOL subscriber and you have signed in with your screen name and password, you won't be shown AOL content.
