Skinning a Blog

The appearance of a blog is a result of a person's style, just like the color and cut of a person's hair or the way they wear a hat. Not everyone has the ability (or time) to create their own designs. Some choose to have weblogs professionally designed. Others opt to use free “template services.” There are other options, as well. For instance, when you sign up for its services, Blogger provides a limited number of templates to choose from. Blogplates.net and Blogskins.com offer more options. Their free template services include installation instructions written for the content management system used. It is easy to find one to fit your personality.

The upside is that even if you don't understand how to create graphics and write HTML, your blog can give a professional look to your site. The downside is that the look will not necessarily be unique. The chances are, with 10,000+ registered users at Blogskins.com, that there will be several other blogs that will bear a strong resemblance to yours.
