IP Address

Your computer has an IP address provided by your ISP, which is your network connection. A Web site has an IP address provided by its network connection. In fact, everything hooked to the Web has an IP address. IP (Internet Protocol) is the set of rules of communication between networks. Each computer on a network must know its own address and how to send and receive information from the other networks. To be a member of the Internet, an organization needs an Internet network number. These are requested from the Network Internet Center (NIC). This number is included in any packet sent out.
