The Rendered Movie is Distorted, Pixelated, or Unclear

Does your end result looks like a mosaic, or like a computer image that’s been magnified too much? Usually, the source of this problem begins in the capturing of your footage. With some preplanning, this can be avoided. Other times, it occurs in the project’s output and can be remedied easily.

The Original Source Files Were Captured at One Resolution but Exported at Another

This is similar to printing a low resolution image at a high resolution. Video captured at 320×240 (multimedia settings) but exported at 720×480 (DV-NTSC) causes severe pixelation in the end movie file. There will also be slight distortion if analog video captured (640×480) is output to DV (720×480). Make certain your capture settings match your final project or are higher than your final project. You can always go down in resolution—not up.
