Editing in the Timeline

In this section, we go into detail regarding editing on the timeline. Throughout this book, we use various editing tools, but here, we take a closer look. Often, there are several ways to accomplish common editing operations. Some methods are faster or easier for some people, whereas other folks might prefer a different method. It’s not a matter of right or wrong, just what’s easiest for you.

In previous examples, we used the three-point editing technique, that is, you set an IN and OUT point on the timeline, an IN point on your source clip, and Premiere fits it into the timeline. Many users like to edit clips directly on the timeline. This tends to be simpler and a bit more obvious, so we take a look at working with this method.
