Beyond the Basics: More Transitions

Although it’s good to keep transitions simple, it’s also good to know what else is available in Premiere 6.5. Your first project may be something serious, such as a business report or your own orientation film for new employees, but what if your second project is a family vacation to Disney World? What if you’re asked to create a “wacky” video for the end of the year company banquet? You might want to liven it up a bit beyond the simple jump cut, cross dissolve, or wipe. Let’s take a closer look at some of these other transitions, so you know the tools that are at your disposal.

You have probably noticed several groupings in the Transitions window. All of Premiere’s transitions are different, but they’re categorized based on their characteristics. Let’s take a quick look at the characteristics of these additional transitions, starting at the top of the Transitions window and working our way down. (See Figure 6.4.)
