Chapter 3. The Premiere 6.5 Interface > Establishing Project Settings

Establishing Project Settings

The first step in Premiere is to set up a project. Upon launching Premiere or when you begin a new project, Premiere asks for parameters concerning your project, if that option is turned on in Premiere’s preferences. What kind of project are you working on? Is it a multimedia project? An Internet media clip? Or, are we going to output to full-screen video?

NOTE

PROJECT SETTINGS

It is never a good idea to change your project settings halfway through a project. Find the format best-suited to your needs or create your own custom setting by selecting “Custom” from the menu in the parameters window. Also, note that if you need to deliver in several formats, you should work in the highest-quality format you’ll be delivering. For example, if you want to deliver both VHS and CD, you should work in regular, full-size video mode, then export a movie suitable for CD, or to Media Cleaner for better results.
