PAL

This is the standard format for some European countries and the United Kingdom. PAL (Phase Alteration Line) plays back at 25 fps and renders images at a pixel resolution of 720×576 in rectangular pixels. What makes PAL appealing to videographers is the frame rate, as it is so close to the frame rate of motion pictures. For the videographer interested in graduating to the title of “Indie Film Maker,” the conversion from 25 fps to 24 fps is easier on the project’s appearance and playback quality. PAL has 136 more vertical lines of resolution than NTSC—so it does look a bit sharper.
