Review

This chapter covers a lot of advanced material early on. You might find it necessary to continue through the book and come back to this chapter for reference at a later point.

  • Avid Xpress Pro can recognize several kinds of decks and cameras.

  • There are three ways to record material. Capturing on-the-fly, capturing using IN and OUT points, and batch capturing.

  • Avid Xpress Pro allows you to capture material in online and offline resolutions.

  • If your source material is Digital Video, Avid Xpress Pro can capture your material as one clip and divide it into sub-clips by using a feature called DV Extraction.

  • If you deleted a project, its material can always be batch captured if you maintain or have access to the original source tapes and you backed up your work (see Chapter 13, “Saving Your Work”).

  • Avid Xpress Pro can import a variety of files.

  • Your import settings dictate how any imported files will appear in Avid Xpress Pro.

  • Multiple files can be re-imported using the Batch Import command.

  • Avid Xpress Pro can import files directly from a CD by simply dragging and dropping an audio file into a bin.
