Part 1. Using Roxio Easy CD Creator > Creating a Data CD in CD Creator

Creating a Data CD in CD Creator

In the Project Selector, open a Data CD Project. The upper panel reveals the familiar Windows file structure.

To locate your data, click the drop-down arrow at the top, and then “drill down” through the folders until you locate the folder with the files you want.

Select your folders and files.

Click Add or drag and drop the files to add them to the compilation. Repeat these steps until you're finished adding your files.

INTRODUCTION

A CD can hold much more information than a floppy disk (about 700 times more!), so they are ideal for backing up your important files. A data CD is a compilation with all kinds of folders and computer files—not just music files. Put a blank CD-R or CD-RW in your CD writer.

TIP

Although some of the data files we're burning are music files, they are being compiled and burned as data files.

HINT

The status bar shows how much data you will be able to fit on a CD. Keep an eye on it as you add files so you will know when you're close to your limit.

Look at the status bar to be sure you haven't gone over the disc capacity.

If you click your folders in the compilation window, you can make sure all the subfolders and files were included.

Click the Record button to start the burn process.
