Creating a Video CD

Click Start, All Programs, Roxio CD Creator 5, Applications, and click Video CD Creator.

A wizard splash screen opens up. Select Simple Video Sequence.

Click Next.

INTRODUCTION

A video CD is a special kind of CD that uses MPEG1 video files and an interactive menu to play movies. We will cover video capture and editing in more detail in later chapters (and further explain the VCD and SVCD formats). Let's quickly look at how CD Creator lets you make such a disc after you have MPEG1-compliant movie files.

HINT

We'll use interactive branching with MovieFactory to make sophisticated Video CDs, so let's just make a simple Video CD now as an introduction.

Click Add.

Select your video files from a folder, and click Open to add your MPEG files.

Unless the disc will go to Europe or Asia, click the Video tab and select NTSC.

Click OK.

Click Next again (not shown) to open the Creating a Play Sequence dialog box and click Add File to add play items.

Click Open when you've selected your files then click Next to continue with the wizard.

Click Next again to play back the sequence as a test (not shown) then click Next a final time to be able to burn the disc. Select Create the CD Now.

Click Finish to begin burning your disc.
