Beginning DirectCD

Open a DirectCD project in Project Selector.

If you have more than one recordable drive, click the drop-down arrow to select the one that has the disc that you will be using. Review the disc information.

Click Format CD.

INTRODUCTION

DirectCD turns your CD or DVD recorder into another disc drive and lets any program save files directly to your media. This takes advantage of a technology called UDF 1.5 (Universal Disc Format). Load a CD-RW disc into your CD-RW or DVD-recordable drive.

HINT

When you use DirectCD, label your discs (or use color coded labels or discs) to differentiate your UDF (DirectCD) discs from conventional CDs.

Click Enable Compression, and then click and attempt Quick Format or do a Full Format (this can take a while).

Click Start Format.

Click OK when the CD Ready dialog box displays. You can now use the CD like a disc drive.

TIP

The CD can be accessed for reading and writing by clicking File, Save As from any program or directly from Windows Explorer.

Click Eject.

Click to Leave As Is.

Click OK to continue.
