Part 9. Tips and Techniques > Fine-Tuning Your System

Fine-Tuning Your System

Open the Disk Defragmenter in the Windows System Tools and select your C drive.

Click Defragment.

In CD Creator, click Tools, Options to bring up the Preferences window. Note the location of your Temp folder. In Nero, click File, Preferences, and then click Cache to locate the Temp folder.

INTRODUCTION

CD recording software has really improved, and with buffer underrun protection now a common feature, burning errors are not as common as they once were. But there are still ways to keep your system in top shape.

TIP

If you use a secondary hard drive, be sure you defragment it regularly as well.

HINT

You can change the location of the temporary directory to make it more accessible, or fine-tune CD Creator in the Options panel.

Type the location of your temp folder into your folder or browser.

Select the files you'd like to delete.

Press the Delete key.

Keep your antivirus program up to date. You can use the Nero antivirus prior to burning, or run one regularly to check all your files. In Nero, you can update its virus scanner by clicking Help.

Make sure you're online, and select Update Antivirus Scanner.
