Part 9. Tips and Techniques > Playing Your DVD from the Hard Drive

Playing Your DVD from the Hard Drive

In your Finish step, click Create DVD Folders.

Click the folder icon to change the location of the files.

Click to choose a root directory of a drive—C: or D: for example—and click OK. When the conversion is complete, use My Computer to see the actual folders that are created. They are called VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS.

INTRODUCTION

In your Finish step in DVD MovieFactory 2.0, you have an option in the Output Settings section of the dialog box—Create DVD Folders. Using this option creates a set of files that you can play in most software DVD players.

TIP

Common DVD players are WinDVD or PowerDVD. By default, they will generally open a DVD in your DVD-ROM or DVD-recordable drive.

HINT

Notice that if you open the VIDEO_TS folder, you have some rather large, cryptic files. Although they are video files, they are not standard PC video files.

In WinDVD (or your computer DVD player), click Toolkit, Properties and change the default drive to the one where you saved your DVD folders.

Click Apply and OK.

Click Play on the software player to watch your project.
