Part 4. Starting to Capture with DVD Mov... > Configuring Capture in MovieFactory

Configuring Capture in MovieFactory

Click Capture to return to the Capture window.

For analog video, click Capture Settings and click Input Source.

Select the source. You can capture from a TV tuner (if installed), composite (yellow plug), or S-VHS (pin connector). Then click OK.

INTRODUCTION

MovieFactory usually will detect the Firewire or analog video capture driver by default. However, if you don't get a preview in the Preview window when you push Play, or if you don't hear your audio in preview or playback, you can check some settings.

HINT

Your video source generally will correspond to the type of cable and plug that connects the Video Out plug on your camcorder or VCR to the input of your capture device—composite or S-VHS.

If you're using a camcorder for live capture (in camera mode rather than VCR mode) be sure the lens cap is off before you begin to troubleshoot the lack of a preview in the Capture step.

If you have no sound (analog), right-click the volume control on your System Tray to open the Recording (not just Playback) options. Be sure Line In is enabled and the devices are active in the Properties panel.

If you have no audio in captured files, click Capture Settings.

Click to enable Capture Audio within the Capture Options dialog box.

Click OK to continue.
