Part 4. Starting to Capture with DVD Mov... > Previewing in MovieFactory

Previewing in MovieFactory

To play your video, click Play in the program (FireWire) or push the Play button on the camcorder or VCR (analog).

To find a segment of your video, click Pause, Fast Forward, or Rewind on the navigation buttons (Firewire) or use the controls on your camcorder or VCR.

Start Capture by clicking the red Capture Video button.

Wait until you pass the desired end point, and then click Stop Capture or Esc.

INTRODUCTION

You will have to use the manual controls of an analog capture device. Firewire (or DV) capture devices can be controlled directly by using the navigation buttons under the Preview window. In any case, using the capture capabilities of MovieFactory is just about as hard as pressing the Record button on your VCR. So let's get ready to capture our first video clip.

Your first clip is in the Video Strip, and the elapsed time of the clip appears in the Options panel. Click OK to return to the Add/Edit Media Clip window.

Click Play in the navigation controls under the Preview window to preview your captured clip (analog and/or Firewire/DV).

Watch the jog shuttle move.

Click Capture again if you want to go back and capture more clips.
