Part 2. How to Use Nero 5 > Converting Your Audio Data Files

Converting Your Audio Data Files

Open Nero and click Extras, File Encoding. You're going to convert some WAV files to MP3.

To add your source files, click Add.

Browse to your file folder with your extracted WAV audio files and select the files you'd like to convert.

Click Open.

INTRODUCTION

Now that you've seen the benefits of having full-sized digital audio on your hard drive as WAV files and compressed MP3 files, let's see how you can convert (encode) from one format to another. (So far you've only converted files you've extracted from a CD.)

HINT

We've covered different ways to rename your audio files from “Track 1” and such. If you persist in using Track as your filename, during conversion you will be asked if you want to overwrite files with the same name—you might delete audio files you've previously extracted from another CD.

Click the drop-down arrow to change the format to MP3.

Click the ellipses (…) to browse a folder for MP3 files, and click to select the folder.

Click OK to continue.

Be sure the output file format is MP3 and click Go. The files are converted.
