Part 2. How to Use Nero 5 > Converting Your Audio Files

Converting Your Audio Files

Open an audio CD project, insert an audio CD, and then click Recorder, Save Track.

Select the CD with the audio tracks and click OK.

Select the tracks you want to save as MP3 files.

Set the destination folder and click Go to start the extraction process.

INTRODUCTION

So far when you've saved (extracted) audio files, you've saved them as WAV audio files, which preserves their full digital quality but results in large files. Other formats, notably MP3, are very popular for compressing audio files while preserving quality.

TIP

Nero includes only a 30-times use demo of its MP3 converter. To use it more extensively, you must download a full plug-in (and pay for it) from the Ahead Web site (www.nero.com).

HINT

When you use Save Track, other file options appear besides *.WAV and *.MP3. *.AIF is the Apple audio standard.

With the files converted and saved, you can drag and drop them to a new compilation.

Click the Write CD button.
