Part 2. How to Use Nero 5 > Creating a Data CD in Nero

Creating a Data CD in Nero

Open Nero to the wizard and click CD.

Click Next.

Click Compile a New CD.

Click Next to continue.

INTRODUCTION

The easiest way to get acquainted with Nero for the first time is with the wizard. This will give you a great idea of the potential of what you can accomplish, and get you started.

TIP

When you review the interface in step 9, on the right panel you'll see the familiar look of My Computer. On the top is Desktop, with its folders listed directly below. You can easily access your My Documents and My Computer folders.

HINT

To the left is an empty panel ready to receive references to your folders and files so they eventually can be included on a data CD. It's headed with a generic name ISO1, and below it a new Volume, called NEW, is represented by a CD icon.

For now we'll start with a data CD; click Data CD.

Click Next.

Click Create a New Data CD.

Click Next. Another wizard window will appear (which isn't shown). Click Finish.

HINT

In the main program (next page), a status bar at the bottom shows you the available disc space for a blank disc for this type of project.

HINT

How you add the folders and files in the main program (next page) reproduces their structure in the root folder of the CD.

Review the familiar interface. Select your files and folders from the My Documents folder—most of your important files are probably there.

With the files and folders selected, drag and drop them into the compilation.

Be sure you have a blank CD in your drive and click the Write CD button to begin.

Click Write in the dialog box to begin burning your disc.
