Part 2. How to Use Nero 5 > Creating a Mixed-Mode CD

Creating a Mixed-Mode CD

Click the New Compilation button and select Mixed Mode from the drop-down list.

The default options on the ISO tab will generally be okay. The Audio CD tab enables you to enter CD text. When you've made your entries, click New.

Add your data files to the upper panel as you would any data-CD compilation.

Locate a file folder (or audio CD) with your audio files or track. Then drag and drop them into the lower panel.

INTRODUCTION

A mixed mode CD is a special kind of data CD that is often used in encyclopedias or other entertainment or educational programs that combine music and data. Older CD-ROM drives can't differentiate these tracks, so the CD Extra (enhanced CD) mode was developed (see the preceding section). Both of these are somewhat advanced, but it's cool to combine digital audio and data.

TIP

Don't put this disc into an audio CD player—you will hear loud static and no music. Notice that the data tracks precede the audio tracks on the disc.

HINT

A mixed-mode disc lets you use the Autoplay feature. We will cover how to create an Autoplay disc in Chapter 9.

Click the Write CD icon.

Select Disk-At-Once.

Click Write to burn the mixed-mode disc.
