Part 7. Finishing Our DVD Project > Burning Directly to Disc

Burning Directly to Disc

Instead of (re)starting a project when you open MovieFactory, click Direct to Disc.

Click DVD.

Click Next to proceed.

INTRODUCTION

MovieFactory has an amazing feature that works only with DVD-RW or DVD+RW media—these support the Fast Edit feature. With a disc like this in your DVD recorder, you can literally burn on-the-fly directly to the disc.

HINT

If you try this with analog capture, you will need to start your camcorder automatically. This process is tricky, so doing it with a DV/FireWire camcorder is more stable.

Click the On-the-Fly option box to make it fast editable.

To create menus, click the Create Menus check box.

To add a personal folder, click the Output Advanced Settings box. (You must uncheck On-the-Fly Fast-Editable to access these options.)

Click OK.

And then click Next.

In the familiar Capture window, set your options, and then click Capture & Burn.

Click Yes to agree to lose data on the disc (not shown) and to the default length of the video prompt shown in the dialog box.

Be patient and watch as your video plays and is captured.
