Part 5. Editing with DVD MovieFactory 2.0 > Extracting Segments from Long Clips

Extracting Segments from Long Clips

Check the length of a clip by dragging its jog bar to the end.

Click Extract Video.

INTRODUCTION

Trimming shorter clips is fine—they become a series of titles that will either play consecutively in your project or return to a previous menu from which they began. But your longer clips can have points within them accessed as chapters from a menu or extracted into shorter titles.

HINT

You can do a visual quick trim by dragging the In and Out Point buttons under the Preview window to where you want them, but be careful of how the audio may play. When you trim a clip dramatically, the total length of your DVD project changes on the status bar.

You can preview just the trimmed segment by clicking Repeat and then holding down the Shift key as you press Play.

In the Extract Video window, play the video to the first in point, and click In.

Now play further and set an out point for the first segment.

Continue to play the clip and add segments with new in and out points. Click OK when you're done.

Click Play to preview the clip in the Add/Edit window. The entire clip will play with extracted portions marked.
