Part 3. Completing Three Simple CD Projects > Completing a Business Card CD

Completing a Business Card CD

Locate the hyperlink you created and right-click it. Then click Edit Hyperlink.

In the hyperlink Address box, drag your mouse to select everything but the filename and press Delete on your keyboard. (You are deleting the drive and folder reference.)

Click OK to continue. Remember to save your work in the same folder.

INTRODUCTION

Now that you're in Word and have the HTM document (not the Word document) open, you need to edit the hyperlinks so that they have no references to your local drives and folders (because the person using the disc will have a different directory structure on his or her machine).

HINT

This “site” is meant to be accessed from a CD. In Chapter 9, you'll learn how to make the first page display automatically when the disc is inserted into the drive.

Open the document in a browser and click on the hyperlinked text. Internet Explorer opens the document to which it was linked.

In Nero (or Easy CD Creator), select your project folder in the File Browser.

Drag and drop the contents of the project folder directly to the root folder of the compilation, including all files and subfolders.

Click Write CD.

TIP

To make sure that the link is read from the disc and not from your hard drive, you can temporarily rename or move your project folder to test the links.

HINT

Doing a Web site is outside the scope of this book. This structure will work from a disc in a PC if the user surfs with Internet Explorer (not Netscape). That's because the linked documents are still Word (DOC) files.

TIP

Dragging the contents to the root folder will preserve the directory structure and will let anyone surf the contents, starting with the first (main) HTM page. Do not drag the folder (Project) to the compilation; instead, select its contents.
