DVD Basics

Briefly, DVD refers to a type of optical-disc storage technology similar to CD, but with far greater capacity. A typical DVD can hold 4.7 GB—roughly seven times the data that can be housed on a computer CD—and its capacity and flexibility has lifted it out of the strictly technical world of data storage and into all kinds of home entertainment and interactive media.
