One of the best comments about modern technology I've heard was that the most important invention was not the assembly line nor the transistor nor the memory chip; it was the cocktail napkin (Figure 2.1). Without it, many great ideas—roughly sketched among the rings and spills of exotic beverages—would be lost to time.
