Part: II Beyond the Basics > More On Bit Budgeting

Appendix A. More On Bit Budgeting

Bit budgeting is the process of estimating how much space a project will take up on the final DVD. A certain number of bits are available for storage and playback, and your bit budget determines how you will “spend” those bits. Encore DVD has several ways of tracking how the bits are being spent. It automatically performs bit budget calculations as part of its disc management tools, and displays a running total of its estimates in the Disc tab. (See Chapters 2 and 6 for more information.)
