Hardware Selection and Connection

You'll need a few additional items to transform your Macintosh into a video production studio. This section describes four possible setups—the basic system is the bare minimum required; the recommended setup is, well, highly recommended for anyone with more than a passing interest in making movies. The third setup uses an analog video card for capture. The fourth configuration (recommended for handling higher-resolution video formats) uses a FireWire-equipped breakout box as the interface between a variety of video and audio sources and Final Cut Pro.
