Chapter 16. Filters And Compositing > Using Third-Party After Effects Filters

Using Third-Party After Effects Filters

Final Cut Pro is compatible with many of the Adobe After Effects third-party image filter plugins. The standard plugins that come with After Effects, however, are not compatible with Final Cut Pro. Once you've installed them, After Effects–compatible plugins will appear in the Video Filters section of the Effects menu and can be used just like any other Final Cut Pro filter.

There may be some trial and error involved in determining which third-party filters will work and weeding out the ones that don't. Make sure you have the latest versions of the filters installed—check the Final Cut Pro Web site at www.apple.com/finalcutpro/ for a current list of compatible filters.
