Lesson 6. Working with Effects > Working with effect controls

Working with effect controls

After an effect has been applied, you can modify it using the Effects Controls window.

1.
To view the controls available for an existing effect, choose Window > Workspace > Advanced Effects. This places the Effects palette on the far left side of your screen and the Effect Controls window in the center.

2.
The Effect Controls window shows you the name of the current clip selected in the top left corner. Additionally there is a section labeled Fixed Effects, which includes Motion and Opacity. Fixed Effects are effects which can be controlled by default on every single clip in Premiere Elements. In other words, they do not have to be added manually as you did with the Black & White effect. You will be working with Fixed Effects in an upcoming exercise.

3.
Place your current-time indicator over your Effects1.avi clip. Below the Fixed Effects is the section for Video Effects, click on the small f () to the left of the Black & White effect to toggle the effect off. The original color image returns when you toggle the effect off. Click the effect preview again to bring the effect back.
