Choosing a Display Mode

Ordinarily, the video in each view of the Monitor window appears as it would on any television screen. However, you can set a view's display mode to show the video's alpha channel—its transparency information as represented by a grayscale image. In addition, you can set the display mode to show several iterations of a waveform monitor and vectorscope, tools that precisely measure the video's luminance and chrominance values. The waveform monitor and vectorscope (often collectively referred to as scopes) are invaluable for color correction and for ensuring that your video meets broadcast specifications.
