Data Rates

The file size of a clip relates directly to its data rate—the amount of information that the computer must process each second as it plays back the clip. Most of the video and audio settings you choose influence the data rate of clips. In addition, some video codecs allow you to define the maximum data rate for the clip's frames (Figures 16.29 and 16.30). You set a data rate according to the limitations of the playback device and the specifications of the codec.
