Adjusting a Clip's Gain

You can adjust the overall volume, or gain, of a clip in the timeline by using a menu command. You can think of gain as the clip's input levels—the volume the clip starts with. The Audio Gain command provides a good way to bring a clip's levels in line with those of other clips before making adjustments to the output levels, either for the individual clip or for all the clips in the track. Adjusting gain doesn't affect the initial position of a clip's volume value graph. See “Viewing Audio Data in the Timeline” later in this chapter.
