Chapter 7. Editing in the Timeline > Playing the Sequence in the Timeline

Playing the Sequence in the Timeline

In Chapter 4, “Managing Clips,” you learned to use playback controls in the Monitor window to cue the current frame of the program. In the Timeline window, a small blue triangle in the time ruler, the CTI, looks and works like its counterpart in the program view. However, a vertical line extends from the Timeline window's CTI through the tracks of the sequence. This makes it easy to see the current frame in relationship to the clips in the sequence. Furthermore, the vertical line makes it even easier to align clips with the CTI, and vice versa. You can cue the Timeline window's CTI by clicking or dragging the time ruler or by using the Timeline window's time display.
