Playing Clips at a Different Speed or in Reverse

In Premiere Pro, you can change the speed of a clip by choosing a menu command or by dragging directly in the timeline. A clip's speed correlates inversely with duration: increasing speed reduces duration; decreasing speed increases duration. The clip's In and Out points, however, remain intact. In other words, if the clip shows a 10-second countdown, increasing the speed won't cut out any of the shot. You'll still see all 10 numbers—they'll just go by in less than 10 seconds. You can also use the Speed/Duration command to reverse playback at the specified speed, which would make the 10-second countdown in the example count up.
