Chapter 2. Starting a Project > Understanding Project Settings

Understanding Project Settings

Project settings determine how Premiere Elements processes audio and video as you edit. In other words, these settings determine the fundamental characteristics of the audio and video, such as the size of the image, the frame rate, the audio quality, and so on.

Because Premiere Elements is designed for DV, it processes video and audio in the DV format. For this reason, the project settings include few options you can customize. Except in rare cases, the default settings should already be tailored for your project; you won’t need to set them, change them, or even look at them. Nevertheless, it’s a good idea to have a basic understanding of the presets and how to change the default preset, if necessary.
