Chapter 2. Starting a Project > Locating Missing and Offline Files

Locating Missing and Offline Files

As you learned at the beginning of this chapter, a project is a set of instructions that refers to files on a drive. When you open a project, Premiere Elements looks for the media files to which the project refers. Usually, they’re where they were the last time you opened the project, and you can get right to work—and you can skip this section.

But if the source files have been moved, deleted, or renamed since the project was last saved, Premiere Elements will have trouble finding them and will prompt you to locate the missing media (Figure 2.17). When this is the case, the information in this section should come in handy.
