Chapter 8. Previewing a Sequence > Storing Preview Files

Storing Preview Files

By default, Premiere Elements stores rendered effects in a folder called Adobe Premiere Elements Preview Files. You can find this file by following the path My Documents > Adobe > Premiere Elements > 1.0 > Adobe Premiere Elements Preview Files. In this main folder, Premiere Elements stores each project’s preview files in separate subfolders; the files use the naming convention projectname.PRV.

However, by specifying a scratch disk, you can designate any location for the video and audio preview files. This way, you can take a more active role in managing your files or ensure they’re being played from a disk with adequate space and speed.
