Rendering the Work Area

At the bottom of the Timeline window’s time ruler, a thin red line appears above any frame that requires additional processing—such as the frames involved in a transition or a clip with effects (Figure 8.7). Premiere Elements’ real-time rendering feature can process and play back most of these areas on the fly at the normal frame rate, assuming your system meets the minimum requirements to do so. If not, you can render these areas, creating new media on the hard drive called render files or preview files.
