Adjusting a Clip’s Gain

You can adjust the overall volume, or gain, of a clip in the timeline by using a menu command. You can think of gain as the clip’s input levels—the volume the clip starts with. The Gain command is a good way to bring a clip’s levels in line with other clips before making adjustments to its output levels. Adjusting gain doesn’t affect the initial position of a clip’s volume level value graph. To learn about adjusting a value graph, see Chapter 10, “Adding Effects.”
