Removing Clips and Gaps from the Sequence

Whatever you can select, you can delete. That includes both clips and empty gaps between clips. Just as there are two methods for adding clips to a sequence, there are two ways to remove them: clear and extract. You can think of clear and extract as being the opposite of overlay and insert, respectively:

Clear removes the defined range from the timeline, leaving a gap in the timeline. Clear is sometimes referred to as lift.
